Augusta Koroma wins 2018 BEFFTA People’s Choice Award

Sickle Cell Intervention UK is pleased to announce that our founder and CEO Augusta Koroma has been honoured with a Special 2018 BEFFTA Award

BEFFTA is an acronym for Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts. It was established by Dr. Pauline Long to recognize talented members of ethnic minorities who excel in their respective fields.

This year Dr. Long recognized Augusta Koroma for her exemplary work in spreading awareness about Sickle Cell Disease in the United Kingdom and around the world.

“I am truly elated to be a BEFFTA Honorary,” said Mrs. Koroma, “I work very hard with determination, dedication and passion at what I do. I can say that the good Lord remains on my side. I dedicate this award to all out there who believe in my work. Without your support, I can’t do this.”

Augusta Koroma is the author of the book ‘Sickle Cell Ailment: My Cry, My Story’ about the management of Sickle Cell Disease in the United Kingdom including clinical care, social care, emotional care and family involvement.

Past BEFFTA winners include Lord John Bird, Didier Drogba, and Sir Trevor McDonald, OBE.
